Check the things that hold water

Start with accessible pots, saucers, toys and covers. Record places where water keeps collecting. Work from the ground; gutters, drains or other difficult areas may need the appropriate maintenance professional.

Repeat the check when conditions change

A container can fill again after rain or watering. A short repeat check is more useful than assuming one clear-out settles the issue. Keep routine maintenance distinct from any pest-control work you want assessed.

Describe the area people actually use

Name the patio, lawn or garden edge involved. Mention ponds, planting and animal access when discussing preparation. Ask which pests and areas a proposal covers and when the space can be used afterward.

Private work and county services are different

Suffolk County’s Vector Control program provides public mosquito information and a reporting route. A private appointment is a separate arrangement. Neither should be interpreted as a guarantee that a property will be free of mosquitoes or ticks.
